PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR TEENS

DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Depth Therapy, or an integrated treatment approach is tailored to best address the teenager's needs, life circumstances, and issues.

Treatment Options for Teenagers

Each teen has unique needs and life experiences, which requires an individualized treatment. A structured skill-based treatment is ideal for a teen that would benefit from learning coping skills, interpersonal skills, and stress management. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is structured skill-based treatment that provides tools and teaches skills to manage stress, relational conflicts, and difficult emotions. Clients learn mindfulness techniques, effective coping strategies, and actions that can be utilized in difficult moments.

When teens would benefit more from deeper and more exploratory work, Depth Therapy would be a better fit. Depth Therapy is exploratory and allows for looking closely at the underlying root causes of a person's distress and struggles. With deeper self-awareness you become informed about what truly matters to you and what gets in the way of living your life more honestly, openly, and meaningfully.

I encourage parents' participation in their teen's treatment. Parenting becomes rewarding when your teen feels validated and understood by parent/s. I help parents make sense of the teen's difficulties and provide practical strategies in addressing your teen's behavioral and emotional struggles.
